The chain began in South Africa when its founders took over a Johannesburg peri-peri restaurant called Chickenland. The formula is chicken marinated for 24 hours and grilled to order with the chilli and a choice at what level. Customers can order at the counter but are served at table. There is a range of decent sides, too, such as peri-peri-seasoned chips and good grilled sweetcorn. The plain chips are a bit of a weak point.
